TRADITIONAL VS. CEREC CROWNS PROCESS

Traditional crowns are made out of a variety of materials, and they usually take two separate dental visits to complete. The dentist would take X-Rays of your damaged tooth, file it down to make room for the crown and then use a putty to make an impression above and below the affected tooth. The impression will be sent to a lab, where it typically takes around two weeks to be made. After waiting, you’d go back into the office to have your crown cemented to your tooth.

With CEREC crowns, you’ll enjoy a much shorter process. We will still take X-Rays and file down your damaged tooth, but then we will use an intraoral scanner to take photos of your teeth for a digital impression. This impression is then sent to our CAD/CAM software machine, which creates your digital tooth restoration. Then, the image is sent to our milling machine, which will create your custom-made crown out of a single block of ceramic in about 15 minutes! Last but not least, we will polish your crown to match the color of the rest of your smile and then cement it securely to restore the look and function back to your tooth. Best of all, there is no follow up visit required!
